Mind-Matter Relations, Anomalistics, and the New Science of UAP
This interdisciplinary project, spearheaded by the Society for UAP Studies (SUAPS), is designed to systematically explore the intersection of anomalistics (including exceptional human experiences), consciousness studies, and empirical UAP research. It aims to establish conceptual and methodological frameworks bridging UAP studies to philosophy of mind, mind-matter research and anomalistics, advancing scholarly understanding and legitimacy in these under-explored domains. A primary aim of the working group, besides regular events organizing focused dialogue around the topic at Universities in the U.S. and in the EU, is a special issue of the Society's journal Limina.

Forensic Methodologies, Citizen Science, and Governmental Investigations in UAP Research
The Society for UAP Studies (SUAPS) is leading an innovative interdisciplinary project to address critical gaps in the field of forensic methodologies within both citizen-led and governmental UAP (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) investigations. This initiative aims to establish clear conceptual foundations and rigorous methodological standards, thus enhancing the credibility, reliability, and academic legitimacy of empirical research on UAP as well as formally establishing the professionalization of this investigatory modality in empirical UAP research.
Project Coordinators: Drs. Eric Halford (Editorial Board, Limina) & Joshua Pierson (SUAPS Board of Advisors)

2025-2026
Standards of Evidence Working Group
Modeled after the Biosignatures Standards of Evidence (BSE) working group which NASA conducted in 2021-2022, this working group will be devoted to determining a similar framework for the empirical study of UAP, which can ultimately garner broad support from the scientific community at large. The main deliverable from this working group will be a white paper which parallels the NASA BSE paper of 2022.
Project Coordinator: Dr. Michael C. Cifone

2024
Citizen Science Working Group
Arguably, empirical investigations of UAP are the oldest Citizen Science program in the U.S. - though rarely have they been conceived as such. This working group aims to produce a clear Citizen Science (CS) framework for empirical study of UAP (UAP-CS) which links individuals and relevant datasets to the professional scientific community now organizing to study UAP using rigorous scientific methods.
The group will coordinate with the professional science community to produce a white paper outlining best practices for UAP-CS, and articulate ways that this community can interface strategically with the existing CS ecosystem, where key resources already deployed in other such projects can be put to use in service of this newly-designed UAP-CS program.
Project Coordinator: Mr. Daniel F. Williams
