이벤트 소개
Distinguished SETI researcher, professor of astrophysics and award-winning science-communicator Adam Frank joins us at the Society to deliver its inaugural Cosmos Lecture, convened in the spirit of debate and critical dialogue.
Prof. Frank's recent book, The Little Book of Aliens, argued on the side of the recent recommendations made to NASA by its Independent Study Team (UAPIST): that UAP should be rigorously studied using accepted scientific methodologies, without bias. Prof. Frank will continue this discussion, and offer his thoughts on what this commitment to science looks like as the study of UAP enters a new phase with NASA's support.
Prof. Frank's research covers a wide range of topics, including studies of what in the SETI community are called "technosignatures". He has also offered the scientific community eloquent, rational - if somewhat controversial - arguments exploring what it would mean to demonstrate scientifically the so-called "Silurian Hypothesis" (the notion that there may have been an intelligent, non-human but technologically capable species in the extreme past, the evidence for which might have been ambiguated by the natural geological cycles of the Earth). His essays stand as models of clear, cogent, and eminently rational scientific analysis, which demonstrate a solid commitment to unbiased scientific method.
The Society is deeply honored to welcome Prof. Frank as its inaugural Cosmos lecturer.
