advancing the study of unidentified aerospace phenomena through interdisciplinary dialogue

The Society for UAP Studies is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization that seeks to bring together serious thinkers (both academics and professionals) who are committed to advancing the study of the UAP through rigorous scholarly engagement. The Society conceives of its mission as primarily one of discipline building, where "UAP Studies" has the space to emerge as a conceptually well-grounded academic area of study. The Society's primary output is the biannual, peer-reviewed journal Limina, which is managed and published by the Society.
As a learned society, our goal is to collaborate closely with academics and academic institutions to foster the development of an empirically responsible ecosystem of scholarship and scholarly discourse among academics and professionals dedicated to UAP Studies.
While we are in conversation with classical "ufology", as an organization we do not align ourselves specifically with this tradition. Consequently, we firmly believe that the ecosystem we wish to nurture should uphold the values of free, open, and unapologetic curiosity while maintaining the rigorous standards of critical scholarship - which necessarily involves a measure of thoughtful (rather than dogmatic) skepticism.
It is through critical skepticism that the empirical disciplines, for example, have historically guarded against speculative or interpretive anarchy, following the evidence no matter where it leads. We aim to uphold and continue this tradition, even as we embrace the more nuanced epistemic practices of the humanities and social sciences.

UAP RESEARCH ECOSYSTEM
The Society is developing much-needed infrastructure for cooperation and informational exchange among all serious UAP research organizations around the world. This infrastructure will also provide an opportunity for interfacing between these groups and the academic community at large who are serious about the rigorous study of UAP and related issues (such as government involvement with UAP investigations and research).
As the Society reaches out to those involved in the broader UAP research community, it develops an increasingly more expansive space of reciprocal exchange and dialogue. Each organization with which the Society maintains active dialogue can be found listed here.
One of the advantages of having a learned and professional organization such as the Society is its neutrality: the Society is designed as a positionally neutral space where researchers - and organizations - of differing philosophical, methodological or strategic standpoints can come together to discuss issues of general importance for the academic, scholarly UAP Studies community.
All voices - no matter how "skeptical" - are important as we develop a deeper understanding not only of the basic need for serious research and scholarly work on UAP, but a clearer understanding of what methods and general epistemological principles should guide us in our collective efforts to produce work that is scientifically and academically rigorous, and which is at the same time consistent with accepted scholarly norms.
We offer this space here as a gateway where the interested community can learn more about the many other serious UAP groups that exist and: their ongoing, active research projects; their staffing or volunteer needs; their funding requirements; and any and all events that these groups are planning or have organized. You will also have a chance to connect with the leadership of these pioneering research efforts, and explore membership opportunities to see if you can be part of their important work.
If you are part of such an organization, please reach out to us and get connected!
Note: As a basically neutral organization, the Society does not maintain nor does it seek formal partnerships with other organizations. Therefore, a given listing on our website is not intended to endorse or otherwise comment upon the particular standpoint or position a group or an individual with that group, maintains.
UAPx - UAP Expedition
UAPx researches UFO/UAP while providing direct access to the general public of reviewed and analyzed data. UAPx designs, tests, implements, and utilizes specialized equipment to fill the gaps in sensor technology identified by the United States Government - without Governmental involvement.
UAPx brings together a global network of researchers, physicists, scientists, trained observers, engineers, enthusiasts, communities, and individuals dedicated to the scientific method in studying Unknown Aerial Phenomena. We create solutions and processes to standardize data collection, investigate, monitor, and ultimately protect our National Airspace through collective effort.
SCU - The Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies
The Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies (SCU) is a think tank of scientists, researchers and professionals stretching across organizations, governments and industries to scientifically and publicly explore anomalous phenomena known around the world as UAPs, UFOs, USOs and OVNIs
J. Allen Hynek Center For UFO Studies (CUFOS)
The Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS) is an international group of scientists, academics, investigators, and volunteers dedicated to the continuing examination and analysis of the UFO phenomenon. Our purpose is to promote serious scientific interest in UFOs, to conduct original research and investigation, and to serve as an archive for reports, documents, and publications about the UFO phenomenon.
Our site contains extensive resources with original case reports, documents, and articles from our many publications to provide in-depth information on the UFO subject.
CUFOS currently engages in several ongoing activities which you can read about here and learn how you may be able to contribute to our work.
